About Taurus handguns
Brazilian company Forjas Taurus SA manufactures the Taurus hand guns. The original PT92 pistol was exact copy of the original Beretta 92 gun, and PT92 still hold some of the original Beretta features, such as frame mounted safety, but, since its introduction, Taurus PT92 had been notably improved, and currently represents affordable hand gun of high value.
Taurus International Firearms continues to hold its place at the top of the hand guns industry in terms of materials and design modernization with the introduction of its wide-ranging new series of compact Taurus hand guns. Constructed with hammer-forged titanium slides and injection-molded polymer frames, these pocketsize, very lightweight, double action only guns are the first usual production autoloaders ever to be obtainable with mainly titanium components.
Technically, Taurus hand gun is a recoil operated, locked breech pistol, that uses short recoiling barrel with under barrel locking piece that roll down to unlock slide from the barrel. The trigger is Double Action type, with ambidextrous frame mounted manual safety.
Taurus makes some derivatives of its basic model:
PT 92 C - compact model, with shortened grip, slide and barrel.
PT 99 - similar for PT 92 except that the rear sights are micrometer clicks adjustable.
PT 100 - similar to PT 92 but chambered for .40SW cartridge
PT 101 - similar to PT 99 but chambered for .40SW cartridge
