About Smith & Wesson handguns
The Smith and Wesson handgun was the construction of Horace Smith and Daniel B. Wesson, who in 1852, created a partnership in Springfield, Massachusetts. The company became known as the "Volcanic Repeating Arms Company". Their aim was to construct a lever action handgun that included a tubular magazine that fired a self contained cartridge. Since then, the Smith and Wesson handgun has become well-known and legendary weapon. Smith & Wesson is the largest manufacturer of handguns in the USA.

Sigma series
Smith & Wesson introduced the Sigma series of recoil-operated, locked-breech semi-auto pistols in 1994 with the Sigma 40, followed by the Sigma 9. Sigma pistols bore so much similarity to Glock handguns that consumers could reportedly exchange many parts between Glock and Sigma models. The similarities were so enormous that many pundits referred to the Sigma series as 'Swocks', a playful contraction of Smith and Wesson handguns and Glock handguns.
Smith & Wesson handguns have been the selection of almost every major police force department and armed forces organization in the world.
