2012-01-30 Am up to 1000 rounds, all CCI MiniMags and 2 ftf's. Had one jam and that's it. Love this gun but the wife adopted it so I guess it's hers now. She loves it too. No problems really at all, easy to clean, accurate and just plain fun.

2012-01-28 I own 17 .22 pistols. Yes that's seventeen. The mosquito is the most worthless waste of steel that I own. I wouldn't even use this gun as a down rigger for deep sea fishing. Being retired military, I'm obviously extremely knowledgeable on the Sig 226. The skeeter FTF and FTE on a regular basis every .22 ammo I tried. I'm talking about 2-3 0n every mag. I purchased 3 factory Sig mags thinking I had a bad one with no different results. I've put 200 to 1000 rounds EACH of 17 different .22 ammo. SEVENTEEN. I've tried everything CCI offers with no luck. I field strip and clean the gun every 50 rounds and the POS still jams up. I understand that every batch of guns will have a lemon or two, but this is ridiculous. Does Sig have any quality control? Obviously not. Forget about there customer service also. There feeling is "oh well" even when I tried to send it back for servicing. For all of you nay-sayers out there, the reviews speak for themselves. This gun is WORTHLESS. Look up the reviews of any other .22. There are very few negative remarks. Also, how many rounds does it take to break in a gun? I've put 39,000 through my mosquito to date and it hasn't improved since day one. I guess the name "Mosquito" is fitting for this gun. It's a pesky bug that most people hate. Don't get me wrong, I expect FTF and FTE on .22s, but this is horrible. Remember, I own 16 other .22s and get a FTF, FTE every 400 rounds or so no matter which one I use or which ammo, dirty gun or not. For comparison, my Ruger MK2 has 2,300 rounds through it without cleaning and with old 1973 Herters ammo and it only jams once every 300 rounds or so. If someone wants to give my Mosquito a try, look down the dump road in Gardnerville, because mine is about 100 rounds from being thrown out of my truck window. Since Sig has been such a disappointment with this gun, I'm selling my other 9 Sigs that I own. I will not support a company that won't fess-up to a crappy product and won't even try to remedy the situation. Remember, read the reviews on any other .22 pistol

2012-01-24 Guy's it is a 22lr pistol,.. They all have issues with FTF and FTE. I have only put 500 rounds through my mosquito and the experience is no different than any other 22lr semi auto. the FTF/FTE issue come with shooting these types of weapons. Mine has done nothing that would give me cause to rant about on the internet. As with any other 22lr the more you spend for ammo the better experience you tend to have.

2012-01-11 This sig Mosquito 22 lr suck's. I own and shoot many hand guns and rifles and by far this is one of the worst in the high end brands. I have tried several different types of ammo and the cci seems to work the best but this junk keeps jamming. right out of the box it was jamming and I did the usual clean, bought different mags etc and still jams. the worst part the customer support is horrible. dont buy the sig sauer mosquito.
by Roldan
2011-12-24 I own one, no issues so far. One maybe 2 FTE's in over 1000 rounds in less than a month. Friend own's a pink one, FTE's almost every time. Both have fired the CCI Mini Mags for the first 500+ rounds. Cleaned, lubed, and last time I was cleaning it, upon re-assembly, the slide locked back without me locking it, and without a clip in it. Had to tap it on the back to get it to release. Took it apart again, re-assembled it, and no more issue. Going to have to send hers back to SIG to get it repaired. Love my SIG SP2340, but the Mosquito seems to have LOTS of issues. More than I would expect, even from a .22 Last time we were at the range, hers had a FTE on every clip. Mine, no issues in over 400 rounds. SIG really needs to look into their QC of this weapon.

2011-12-21 Got the gun new and took it to the range. I did not even get 3 Mags down the pipe and the slide stuck closed and could not get it open. Had to take it home and take it apart to fix. I was using Winchester HV ammo. Going to try the Win M22 ammo and see how that works.

2011-11-24 bought this gun last year put almost 50000 rounds in it no problems with no mods

2011-11-23 bought this gun about two months ago. love this gun. ive put about 500 rounds through it so far. maybe 3 or 4 ftf's. Have used cci mini mags and Rem. gold. both work well. looking for to trying some of the hotter rounds. cci velocitors and cci stingers. I had some concerns about buying this gun after reading some of the reviews. I'm very happy with this gun, a perfect complement to my 40 cal. sig.

2011-11-11 Just shot another 350 rounds out of my mosquito. Had a few failure to feeds and failure to fires, but ran mag after mag with out to many problems. Ounce again the trigger is hard to get use to but after warming up I was on target. After 300 hundred rounds it would not operate is was so dirty, but ran good up till that point. I set up to 12" steel plates at 16 yards and 1 at 40 yards. I was about 95% on the close targets and about 80% on the far 1. Not bad for my second time out w/ this gun. After running the sig I ran my Beretta px4 storm 9mm and the transition was minimal. I like the way the sig feels in my hand, it even has a little recoil, makes you forget you are only shooting a 22.
by Jim S
2011-10-31 I just picked one up over the weekend and ran 350 rounds through it. Some bulk ammo and some cci stinger. I had a few failure to fires, but with a quick rack I was back in action. The gun is pretty accurate once you get used to the trigger. Sight is not bad and feel good in the hand. My over all review is that it is a fun gun, feels like a 9mm when you holding it, if want a tack driving target pistol get a ruger, browning or neos, if you something that feels like a service pistol that you can shoot all day for 20 bucks get a sig mosquito.
by Jim s
2011-10-31 I just bought my gun friday took out to the range on sat and I must say no jams and it was accurate i hit the bulls eye constantly and no misfriring, I love my gun its wonderful!! I had no problems at all I used the CC1 mini mags and we did 500 rounds non stop and my son has a 380 and wanted to fire mine moee than his which tends to jam!! I dont what u guys are talking about maybe u need a few lessons on how to handle a gun!!
by Janie
2011-08-28 Got my new mosquito and think it is junk so far. After 2 trips to the range, instead of improving, its getting worse. The slide is sticking on the hammer and I have to push the slide foward on at least half the shots. This little gun is giving Sig a bad name. They should pull it or fix it. I'm no gunsmith but this thing is so bad, I don't think I have much to loose by attempting to be a gunsmith.
by Scott
2011-07-03 I almost didnt buy the mosquito based on reviews but i took a chance and so far Im pleased. Before i bought it i called Sig to ask about all the issues people have been having and he said run CCi mini mags for at least 300 rounds to break it in and the u should be able to use most ammo. 1000 rounds latter and my skeeter runs better than expected. No perfect but what .22 auto does i have a ruger mkIII and even that will jam up sometimes. Before i shot my skeet i field stripped it and cleaned it real good with CLP(best cleaner ever imo) Then i polished the feed ramp. I put 300 rounds of cci minimags through with only one failure to feed. I think it was the mag cuz it was a lil sticky cuz i forgot to clean it. Then i used 100rd of remington vipers and after about 80 rounds i started having a couple of feeding and ejecting issues. I beleive this to be a result of the gun geting fouled up by the remmys quickly because it is def a dirtier round than the cci. Three times more smoke out the barrel with reemy over cci..took her home cleaned her up and put 500 more rounds next day of cci mini mags and 100 rds of remington yellow jackets... Only a coulpe of feed issues when using the remmy after 300 rds so i field stripped cleaned and ran cci without issues... So with that being said break in with mini mags, and clean more often if u use other ammo and clean the mags. Maybe i got lucky, or maybe i just take more care in the use of my guns than most...

2011-06-28 Took my brand new Mosquito to my local gunsmith right out of the box after reading all the threads and comments on several different sites and this one. We did some of the recommended fixes and two other things that allowed me to shoot bulk Remington out of the box with no cleaning what-so-ever without a jam, not a FTF or FTE in the lot. What we did was to polish the ramp as stated in several posts, also for the lip on the entrance to the chamber at the end of the ramp,, we rounded the lip and polished it. We also took a metal cuter and chamfered the entrance to the chamber and then polished the chamber the length of the case with steel wool and then a ruby type polish, being careful not to remove any metal, just polish and take off the tool marks. The result is an awesome little pistol with very good accuracy and reliability. It actually functions that either of my Mark II's. I was very well pleased after the work we did. I do admit that it should shoot well out of the box and these are fixes that should be just automatically done by Sig, I have to admit my lack of research and just went off the name for the original purchase and was disappointed that I had to do work on it out of the box. I have found that with rimfire pistols a little polishing and TLC make for great reliability and also fun shooters.

2011-04-06 Bought new over the weekend. Cleaned it and oiled it before hitting the range. 300 rounds of CCI Mini mags and 3 FTF's. I would say that is ammo not the gun. Also those who say it shoots all over the place may need to look at the shooter not the gun. I put 30 rounds in a 6" circle at 12 yards ( 36ft). Not bad for a $300 gun.
by Chad
2011-03-20 Bought this gun today and went right to CCI Minimags. shot less than 100 rounds and had 7 FTF & FTE. The gun was used and i did clean and oil before use. I love the feel of the gun. It feels comfortable and beats my ruger .380 ACP which i think is a real POS. Well, back to the Mosquito. I am going to give it a chance and put around 500 rounds through it before i render a final verdict but based on what i am seeing more people with issues than not unless those with no issues do not post as often which may be the case. I am shocked that Sig customer service has proven to be worthless but that is indicative of a company that knows they have a problem. We will see.
by Jim
2011-02-20 First pistol, tried cheap federal ammo. couldn't fire 2 consecutive shots. I was spittin mad. Cleaned the gun. bought CCI mini mags. No problems. 1 jam in 300. cant believe the difference. So far I like this gun.
by chad
2011-01-20 well david if u want to give it away i will take it in a heartbeat let me know!
by lee
2011-01-20 i dont know what the hell you people are bitching about i got mine 2 years ago and have put 5000 rounds through it and it works fine no miss fires no jams
by LEE
2011-01-18 I thoroughly cleaned and lubed before firing. I did clean every 30 rounds to break in gun. Using CCI mini mags had zero FTF for over 300 rounds. Tried using bulk federals and it jammed every other round. It didn't like remington golden bullets either. So I'll just use CCI mini mags and not worry about it.

2011-01-08 great gun

2010-10-30 I purchased this pistal two weeks ago. I have been a longtime owner of the Sig P225 which I love. To date I am not happy with the Mosquito. I started with the spring that came in the gun which was the longer lighter gauge spring. The first 50 rounds were the inexpensive Federal ammo and it perform poorly. I purchased some CCI Mini Mags from the range and it performed better but still jammed and stove piped a good bit. Changed the spring and went back to the range and it performed worse. I have purchase some stingers and a couple of other brands and I am taking it back to the range tomorrow. I believe a good break in will do this weapon some good. However the performance of this gun did effect my purchase of my 40 caliber. I picked the Beretta PX4 over the Sig 250.

2010-10-07 Worthless embarrassment to the German Nation. If this were WWII these factory workers would be shot. ftf, ftes sps you name it this gun has more acronyms for its issues than a shanghai whore. I have done absolutely everything and yes followed the manual as well as talked to their tech support department. Yes, CCI and all of the above ammo and combination of spring etc. If a gun maker can't ship a gun that works they shouldn't sell. For cryin out loud we are talking about a weapon here.
by David
2010-09-27 READ AND UNDERSTOOD THE MANUAL. I HAVE HAD NO FAILURES FEED, FIRE OR FUNCTION IN MY BRAND NEW SIG MOSQUITO. USING HIGHER GRADE AMMO. CLEANING GUN AFTER EVERY SESSION, JUST AS THE NAVY TAUGHT ME. RELAX FELLOW SHOOTERS TAKE YOUR TIME AND DO IT RIGHT.
by TODD O
2010-09-21 Can you say TRIGGER CREEP. Very disapointed in trigger feel. Cycles best on Aggilla Intercepters
by lb
2010-09-11 I just bought a used Reverse -Two-tone for $299. I love the feel of the gun , I fired 100 rounds of CCI & remington thunderbolts. the very first shell did not feed from the magazine , all of the rest loaded & fired great . no jams , fairly accurate. It is a lot cheaper than firing my P228. I recommend this gun.

2010-08-17 I bought my mosquito at a gun show here in Minnesota last week. Paid $402 for it with a spare mag. Took it to the range today to break it in. It didn't fire a single round. FTF/FTE! Rounds only goes halway in the chamber. A few rounds chambered but they didn't seem to sit right. Tried racking the slide to eject but it failed. The chamber is too tight for the round. Yes, I read and followed everything the manual says word for word. I'm very, very disappointed! Good thing I brought my Walther PPK/S, which is my carry pistol, and shot a hundred rounds. Before I left the range, I told one of the guys there about my experience and that I'm done with that piece of gargabe. He offered to buy it for $150. I said $150 plus a hundred rounds of .380 ammo. We're sold! I didn't mind taking a loss. I was happy glad I even got something for it as I wouldn't even think of giving it to a friend. My short love affair with a mosquito over. I'll stick with my MK III for plinking.
by Stan
2010-07-20 Consistent FTE's over the last year. I've been too patient. Regular cleaning and high speed ammo did not help. If anything, FTF's and FTE's have increased over time. Also, jamming of multiple rounds in gun (consequential to FTE's). Went to clean it today, pulled back slide, didn't catch, but jammed hammer. Can't find a way to disengage hammer. Taking it back to dealer (I've been complaining about the gun for 10 months, so he knows I'm probably coming). Don't want this gun any more.
by Stanl
2010-06-23 CCI Minimag ammo and zero FTE...however, after about 150 rds. the hammer locked to the rear. Pulling the trigger would not release the hammer. Decock and then pull the trigger and it FTF. Clicked twice and fired. ??? Returned it to the dealer and it done the same thing with him so he called Sig. They have no idea and said send it back. It's been gone about a month now. Oh and I followed the instructions in the manual to the letter. This was my first Sig firearm and I am sorely disappointed.
by Bill
2010-06-07 Great gun.... Accurate... Absolutely none of the problems listed here... Cleaned per manual and fired recommended ammo... 200 rds with no problems and gun feels great!!!
by Chadro
2010-06-07 After cleaning I shot about 200-250 rnd through it, I dropped my last mag of the day and a piece of metal fell out of the magazine well. I did a function check of the firearm to find that the trigger will now break without a magazine inserted, something it did not do before. No more rounds fired.
by Johnny Gunn
2010-05-25 dont buy. any modern 22 that can't fire "cheaper" ammo is a complete waste of money. Mine jams up at least 80 percent of the time. Its not the springs, it is the poor design of the pistol. I am going back to revolvers.
by justin
2010-05-24 Stove pipe and jam,,,,,,80% of the time, changed springs, re cleaned, greased ejection port flange. Oiled mags and used 4 types of ammo.Jam,Jam,Jam,Jam......
by Joe
2010-05-07 well over 600rds fired and still having FTF's with CCI Stingers, use crappier ammo and I have FTE's And a Few FTF's...the Stingers do cycle nice you just have to strike em 2-3x before they fire.. havent seen cci minimags for sale around here. but plan on trying them when i find em. i hope those r the magic bullet... this gun is making me lose sleep....i ordered a suppressor for it, so i cant give up yet
by David D
2010-04-22 I ordered this gun from my local gun store on February 3rd. He has five on order and so far he can not get any. Is there a shortage out there. How long should I expect to wait?
by John
2010-04-16 Great gun. The sights that come with it I think need to be lower, and the trigger pull needs some work. It worked great after I put some lapping compound on the slide (available at local autoparts store) and racked the slide several times, simulating rounds being shot through it. After that the gun was awesome. Fires almost any round, and is very reliable. Accuracy is good too. No complaints here.
by Justin
2010-04-04 Also, for those that may not know what FTF/FTE means: That's FAILURE TO FIRE/ FAILURE TO EJECT.
by nada victim
2010-04-04 I purched the Mosquito about 7 months ago and I too had some FTF/ and FTE issues, but after about 200-250 mini mag rounds that were sent down range this handgun smoothed out very well. I LOVE shooting this gun!!! To me it's very accurate, and for it's intended purpose ( plinking, informal target shooting ), it,s darn near perfect. For those out there who are having trouble with this, or any other firearm....READ AND FOLLOW WHAT IT SAYS IN THE MANUAL!!!!
by nada victim
2010-01-26 I read my manual. Cleaned and oiled the new gun. Headed out to the range with cci mini mags. Had a great time. 0 problems. More accurate then I expected. I love this gun.
by Bill
2010-01-25 I've had my Mosquito for about three months now and put about 1000 rounds through it. Works great on Remington Cyclone, cheap Federal bulk stuff, and of course CCI Stingers and CCI Mini Mags. It does not like cheap Remington Golden Bullets and will jam about 60% of the time on mine. Overall it is a great plinking gun if you keep it clean and feed it the right ammo that it likes. Even if I have to buy the .22 ammo that is a little higher price, it is still cheaper than shooting my .40 all day.
by Mitch
2010-01-23 Hey David Pignone please send me your Mosquito and anybody else who has given up on theirs, I will place them in a good home (MINE) :) I love mine, Its a 22's semi, 22's are dirty cheap ammo, they jam and missfire, not the gun, its the ammo, keep it clean and oiled with decent ammo and it will fire nicely.. And dont forget to BREAK IT IN at least 500 rounds,,, If still not satisfied just send it to me..
by Bob Smith
2010-01-18 Lots of concern about breaking in Mosquito. Which spring to use during break-in is basic issue: Light spring for sub-sonic and heavier for heavier loads? Weapon feels great, could be a great trainer, but concerned about jams. Watch out for magazine separating - base not seated in body; lost spring, end of practice!
by RENO SHOOTER
2010-01-03 Very good gun. I shoot the CCi ammo with the light spring. No Problems. I switched to the heavy spring and a few of the cci's failed to fire and some eject. Keep the light spring in and test it with the light ammo. Mine will shoot anything you feed it now. Clean the factory grease out of it and oil it with something decent .
by Jackal
2009-12-30 I purchased a new Mosquito a few months back. Have run a few hundred rounds thru the barell. I had a few jams when firing the Aquila HV rounds. CCI mini mags, Federal HV and Winchester Xs fired without a problem. I run a boresnake thru the barrel every hundred rounds and a light oiling. I put grease on my magazine to prevent feed problems. Not a bad target pistols when compared with firing 9mm ammo on the range. A good weapon to teach shooting skills such as breathing, trigger pull and hand placement to novices. When on the range, others have asked to take a few shots with the gun. I have no complaints about fit, finish or quality.
by Tom
2009-12-28 Was going to get a Walther P22, but gun store guy talked me into the Sig Mosquito instead. Everyone complaining about ammo jams needs to read the manual that comes with it. Spring that comes in the gun designed for CCI Mini-Mag ammo. There is a second spring included (white, slightly longer and smaller diameter one) that needs to be installed when shooting anything other than the Mini-Mags. Though the heavier, black spring is supposed to come installed in the gun, mine came with the lighter spring. First range session, I ran 200 rounds of Federal bulk pack (Walmart special) through it and it never barfed once. All 200 rounds fed, fired, extracted and ejected properly. After getting used to the trigger, I was able to hold 2" or better groups at 25 yards using a 6 o'clock hold on the standard 25 yard timed/rapid fire bullseye target. Perfectly acceptable for plinking and not terribly bad for paper punching either.
by Jim S.
2009-12-26 minimags are the only way to go, with the minis the spring in the gun is key, if u change it u fucked it up. u want the gun to peak out, spend the $6.88 for 100 rnds & ill be damned if it james more than once. clean and remington oil every 250 rnds.
by troy tillman
2009-12-21 Purchase the Mosquito recently and shot a few hundred CCI Mini-Mag rounds on two separate trips to the range. Overall very pleased with the pistol so far. It fits well in your hands and is a very comfortable to shoot. Features are easy to use and the gun is very easy to teardown and reassemble while cleaning. Trigger action takes getting used to and is still work in process. Sights are easy to aim and groupings are okay but pulls to the lower left of target center. Possibly due having to get used to the trigger pull. Purchased the handgun for my wife and pleased with the decision so far.
by tvanman
2009-11-30 Sig Mosquito works great if you know what you are doing.Shoot CCI mags high velocity use the higher tension spring that it ships in the gun. This does not like Cheap ammo.If you do shoot lower velocity ammo change the spring.
by Larry
2009-11-20 Do yourself a favor! Mini mag ammo is your only choice for this gun. You'll be in 7th heaven.
by Rico
2009-11-18 Got my mosquito a few weeks ago. Initial testing with standard velocity cheap ammo and was extremely disappointed with jamming. RTFB and bought CCI Mini Mags. Ran 100 rounds through it with "0" jams. I couldn't be happier. Use the HV ammo and you will be as well. This is a great gun. Buy the good stuff and the gun will perform.
by Chuck
2009-11-08 Not sure what all the complaining is about on here. First off every rimfire handgun is ammo sensitive. Second, while ppl seem to have no patience, alot of autos require breaking in with aorund 500 rounds. Almost every reviewer who has patience and has put 500 rounds through it says it improves. Third, those who expect to put junk ammo through it will be disappointed. Would be nice if it shot cheap lead .22's well, but it doesn't. Shoot copper plated HV rounds through it and it's sweet! Not sure about the person who says he bought it for self protection... consensus is .380 or better and I've sen the .380 fail so I feel a 9mm at least. This is not a protection gun but a plinker and trainer. Yet filled with stingers or the quick-shock, I'd feel safe in a pinch. I shoot only HV and hypers and I love it!!! Nary a jam! I think your expectations are too high.
by John
2009-10-28 Shoots good when it doesnt jam. which is never. i need to try to fix it.
by jon
2009-09-23 fired the mosquito .22 2or 3x jammed also range master said it was the ammo on first try and possibly lubrication problem .mabey it has to break in hopefully .by artie

2009-09-20 i use remmington golden hv-hp works like a champ . i had the p22 that is the bigest shit gun i ever had .get the sig
by hitler
2009-09-02 I fired my freinds new Sig Mosquito today. Yes it did jam but not as bad as stated above. The cartridge sometimes did not make it all the way into the chamber, got stuck, and of course caused a jam using Remington .22LR. It seemd to eject the spent case okay. It also had the worse trigger pull of any gun I have ever fired. It must be 12 lbs. or more.
by Earl
2009-08-03 I bought this gun last week .New model. The biggest peice fo shit I have ever wasted money on only jams every other shot and I own a lot of guns .Wish HK made a 22 Do NOT buy this gun!!!!! If you want mine I will give it to you complete junk,David
by David Pignone
2009-07-27 like the looks of the weapon knew sig had good rep.bought the mosquito fired two clips had some jams but will have to spent more time shooting to say it sucks.contacted sig to see if they have answers to the jamming problem and or there if they have addressed the issue.
by kenh
2009-07-09 Bought this gun for defense, and I think I will die because the gun jams up all the time. Got the best ammo, cleaned it, took it back to dealer and he put lots of grease on it and said that should fix it. Nothing works.
by Renee
2009-05-12 i head the mosquito was a bb gun is that true?
by terri
2009-03-22 just shot mine brand new, jammed on the first round every time, rounds 2-10 were ok. pretty accurate, but the jamming is a concern. i understand you need a higher power ammo then the federal bulk ammo i bought, so i will try CCI and thunderbolts to see if jamming stops. otherwise, gun feels great and shoots fine
by gene
2009-03-05 56 out of 70 rounds either stovepipe d,jammed, or failed to eject. I cleaned the pistol and switched ammo as well as the springs. Now I have a $300 paperweight.
by Jerry Elliott
2008-12-31 I UNDERSTAND THAT THE MOSQUITO SUFFERED FROM SOME QUALITY ISSUES WHEN FIRST PUT ON THE MARKET . DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THESE HAVE BEEN RESOLVED AND WHAT THE SERIAL NUMBERS MIGHT BE .
by RAY LEEN
2008-11-05 A nice handgun. And it does shoot all over the place. I had my fair share of jams when I started shooting. I wish it were available in 32 caliber.
by Jerry
2007-12-30 Very inaccurate. Gun shoots all over the place. Even with different ammo. I expected more out of Sig.
by Scott
2007-11-09 A nice little pistol for target shooting
