About Ruger handguns
The first Ruger handgun was the Ruger Standard .22 caliber pistol designed by Bill Ruger in 1949. He attended to make a .22 pistol for target shooting, camping and little hunting, which would be uncomplicated, reliable and reasonably priced. That design viewpoint remains in the latest Ruger handguns. Now in many variations and calibers from .22 to .45, sportsmen, law enforcement and government agencies have used Ruger pistols international for over 65 years.
In reaction to a U.S. government solicitation in 1985, Sturm, Ruger developed its P85 pistol. Ruger P-Series handguns have ever since earned desirable reputations for reliability, strength, and performance in the field. They are simple, reasonably priced, and functional.
Ruger is a leading participant in the .22 rimfire rifle market in the U.S. with its Ruger 10/22, and has had that position for some years now which was assured by its inexpensiveness and excellent quality. It has produced a custom version of it sold only by Wal-Mart.
Ruger similarly dominates the .22 rimfire semiauto pistol market with the Ruger MK II. Like the 10/22, the MkII is extremely well supported with a variety of good aftermarket accessories.
Ruger P-Series 9mm handguns are acknowledged globally as providing preferred features, proven reliability and exceptional value in one of the world's most widely accepted handgun calibers.
