Handgun CZ-52

The Czechoslovakian army pistol model 52, CZ-52 abbreviated, is anextremely interesting weapon-technology development. In principle thedomestic weapon industry in Czechoslovakia had many experiences in theproduction of high-quality contactor handguns. Therefore, despite theSoviet-Russian supremacy, the self-sufficiency could remain so wellprotected in the weapon industry. Only with the ammunition compromiseswere closed and the cartridges Warsaw Pact were taken over, sincestandardization was desired. Over approx. 1949 was built the firstprototypes with the designation "491", at that time still in thecaliber 9 mm of Luger. The CZ-52 has the caliber of 7.62 x 25 mm ofTokarev, which are actually a copy 7.63 Mauser. Considerably at thedevelopment of the CZ-52 the two technical designers were involvedJanuary and Jaroslav Kratochvil.

Like several handguns from this time also the CZ-52 hangun is a classical complete steel weapon with "single action" departure. Only fewer loadedparts consist of coined/shaped and/or punched plates. Additionally itis remarkable that the weapon consists only straight one of 41 parts(without magazine). CZ-52Thus also for possible supply and/or maintenancework the expenditure was limited to a minimum. The bolting deviceprinciple functions by means of a role catch. At the rear end the runpossesses guide rails, which slide in appropriate slots the inside onethe carriage. Thus an accurate guidance is given. If run and catchstand in the front position, the piece of curve presses the two lockingrollers attached at the run outward. The roles stand out therebylaterally and rest in appropriate reaming in the carriage. Because theroles cannot evade inward, is thus run and carriage locks with oneanother. After the firing delivery the run slides briefly back andgives then after approx. 4.5 mm the roles by means of a piece of curvelocked in the catch, freely. It is at the same time the counter bearingfor the two roles. The renewed bolting device takes place accordinglyin reverse. After the last shot the carriage remains in the rearposition. In series no fang was inserted. In order to thus lock thecatch carriage in the back, an empty magazine must be assigned.

Thedismantling takes place quite simply, by downward pulling the run ownerat the front end of the trigger guard and pushes the carriage awayforward and raises something. Here it becomes recognizable that thecompany Heckler & Koch copied very much with the model P9S with the CZ-52 pistol - it developed some characteristics practically directly.Afterwards an honor for the CZ-52 handgun. If the hammer should be strained andharmless easing is in demand, the safeguard lever can be used alsoupward pressed as easing levers. There was a variant with clampingdeparture, this however was not resumed. The firing pin is mentionableas only weak point. It can break easily, if the hammer is emptyreduced. Otherwise the CZ-52 handgun is at that time a very matured for thetime and thought out construction.
