About Ear plugs

An earplug is a device that is meant to be inserted in the ear canal to protect the human ears from loud noises or the intrusion of water, foreign bodies, and handgun shooting noises, dust or excessive wind.

Hearing protection
Current earplug material was discovered in 1967, at National Research in the United States of America by Ross Gardner. As part of a project on sealing joints, they developed a resin with energy absorption properties. This EAR material was later developed into commercial earplugs.

The Classical ear plugs are made of soft polymer foam that expand in your ear for comfort. The Classic ear plugs are a bright yellow color that makes compliance easy.

Acoustic protection is needed for all personnel who are regularly exposed to the noise of handgun fire or to blast. The characteristics and course of the temporary loss are like that following exposure to sustained high noise levels. Measure in current use (waste and cotton) is unsanitary and not entirely reliable.

Other devices that provide hearing protection include electronic devices worn around and/or in the ear, designed to cancel out the loud noise of a handgun shot, while possibly amplifying quieter sounds to normal levels. While rich in features, these electronic devices carry a price over one hundred times their foam counterparts.

Ear plugs have undergone a quiet revolution over the last two decades. For many years, manufacturers produced only wax-cotton plugs; pharmacies today are filled with silicone, PVC, and polyurethane stopples. Web sites also sell plugs specifically designed for hunting, loud concerts, and motorcycling. Now there are even hearing aid-like plugs that drown out external sounds by playing white noise.
