Tactical knifes
The term "tactical knife" first appeared in the United States at the beginning of 50-s. It is better to translate it as "tactical fighting knifes". But what actually a tactical fighting knife is and who needs it?
What are the characteristics of a tactical fighting knife?
A concept "tactics" includes "the accomplishment of rational systematic actions oriented to the achievement of certain purposes". The purpose of the application of tactical fighting knifes is to achieve as maximal as possible versatility in the use of one and only weapon, so a knife should be suitable both as weapon and as technical tool. Their polarity is two-edged fighting dagger intended exceptionally for killing or injuring of the enemy. Naturally, a tactical fighting knife should also correspond to this task both attacking and defending. However, experience suggests that in most cases knifes are used by professionals – officers or policemen — to fulfill tasks which are not related with an attempt upon the life but such as cutting of ropes or straps in dangerous situation as well as opening of windows.
Only some knifes produced earlier corresponded to both tasks. Especially demonstrative example could be the knives produced by "Ferbern-Saiks" which were used by British commandos during the Second World War.
The only applicability of this knife which had a form of stiletto was the injury of vital human organs; it was impossible to use it as a tool. So, soldiers during military operations had to carry at least two knives. It was really uncomfortable. Therefore, the tactical demand of one multifunctional knife was determined by the ability to use a knife in different situations with maximum fastness for the fulfilling of completely unlike tasks. To find such a knife in the market today is not very difficult. Almost every producer produces one model or even the whole assortment of knives for tactical application. It is difficult to make a notion about all the models of knives because of a huge choice and continuous development of new forms, materials and production techniques.
